Architecture

In a previous life as a journalist, I wrote for many years about architecture and design for a variety of magazines and newspapers including The Guardian, The Independent, London Evening Standard, World of Interiors, Homes & Gardens, Architects’ Journal and more. It was a fantastic job and my work touched on everything from galleries, shops, museums and offices to churches, hospitals, restaurants and people’s homes. I always enjoy talking with architects about their ideas and designs, and admire their ability to combine panoramic vision with attention to detail. I’m also a great fan of photographers and painters who can bring their own interpretations to buildings. For anyone who knows the work of John Piper, it is easy to see that he is a powerful inspiration in my paintings… he has been one of my heroes for as long as I can remember. My watercolours tend to be large scale, usually around 75cms x 57cms (30ins x 22ins).
